What is the difference between an employee and an independent contractor?
An employee of your business is someone that you control the how, when, where, and why they do something. An independent contractor, on the other hand, is somebody who you hire to do a job, but you don't care how they get it done, or the methods they use. It's important to know those distinctions, because they have implications for the IRS filings.
